About Us
Cosplay Labs (or CosLabs for short!) is a collective of cosplayers based in Singapore who can't resist tinkering with stuff. And by stuff, we mean how we craft, how we connect, and what it means to be a cosplayer.We're curious about everything – our community, cosplay crafting, and even how we manage to survive those 3am costests. That curiosity fuels us to share knowledge through workshops, find practical ways to keep cosplay fun and safe, and team up with events and industry partners.Cosplay has given us so much joy(ous chaos). This our way of paying it forward. Our goal? To raise the bar without gatekeeping or drama.We're working on building safe spaces that connect us through shared creativity, and we know we can't do it without you.It’s time for a new era in cosplay.

Our Manifesto
1. Fostering mutual respect & humanizing cosplayers
We aim to humanize cosplayers in the eyes of event organizers, the photography community and general public through advocating for mutual respect.
2. Individuality, artistry, intentionality and self expression
We believe in supporting cosplayer individuality by encouraging intentionality and promoting self-expression.
3. Empowerment & awareness; skill and craftsmanship
We empower cosplayers and elevate inter-community standards by raising awareness of topics such as consent, boundaries, safety, ethics, and best practices (makeup, wig styling, standards for competitive cosplay, etc.).
4. Connections, healthy interactions and safe spaces (online and physical)
We foster connections by building healthy interactions within and between communities through online and physical safe spaces.
5. Advocating for cosplay to be recognized as an art form & cultural practice
We advocate for cosplay to be recognized as a legitimate art form with real impact on culture and society. We help cosplayers assert their value and engage non-cosplay spaces and institutions with clarity and self-respect. We build relationships with collaborators and allies who understand, respect, and champion our practices.
Our Workshops & Events
Cosplay Labs started as a cozy learning space for cosplay enthusiasts. Our wig and makeup workshops made the craft less intimidating, especially for beginners.Over time, we’ve expanded beyond technical skills to explore artistry, wellbeing, safety, and consent. In October 2025, we’re partnering with Doujinfes for a panel on confidence and self-image in cosplay. It's the first panel of its kind in our community at a local cosplay event.Looking ahead, we’re planning programmes on cosplayer safety, crafting, and photography – plus events for parents and the wider public, so everyone can experiment with the art and science of cosplay!
How to Work with Us
We love connecting with the community and exploring ideas that spark curiosity and creativity!We’re open to collaborating with societies, organizations, and events – whether it's workshops, seminars, booths, or consultation for cosplay competitions.We’ve worked closely with our friends at Daijoubu and are gearing up for our Doujinfes panel in October 2025.
